Module 8a. - Physical Phenomena at the Nanoscale (5 ECTS credits – optional module)

Quantum effects in nanostructures. Magnetism in nanoparticles: superparamagnetism. Magnetism in interfaces: Exchange Bias. Magnetism in thin films. Magnetic anisotropy. Anisotropic MagnetoResistance, Lorente magnetoresistance, Giant magnetoresistance, tunnel magnetoresistance, spin-torque, spin injection and spin accumulation. Electronic transport in nanoconstrictions and nanocontacts. Molecular electronics. Quantum well, quantum wires and quantum dots. Tunnel effect and quantum coherence in nanosystems. Quantum computation.
