Access to the LSC facilities

The LSC facilities are located below the Tobazo Peak in the Spanish Pyrenees. The access to the Old Lab 3 was carried out by the Spanish side and through the railway tunnel, shown in the pictures above. Nowadays this tunnel is only used to come out the LSC facilities.


Old Lab 3 facility

The experimental room used by ROSEBUD was located in the main Hall of the Old Lab 3, shown in the pictures above. This laboratory had an area of 118 m2 and was shared with other experiments dedicated to rare event searches and facilities used for low background measurements of different materials.

Assembling the Dilution refrigerator

Assembly of the dilution refrigerator into the cryostat with three scintillating bolometers coupled to the mixing chamber and shielded with a Cu thermal screen.


Experimental set-up

Inner view of the Faraday Cage used as electromagnetic shielding. The dilution refrigerator was assembled inside a Pb shielding, with a µ-metal electromagnetic screen, polyethylene (on two lateral sides and below) and laterally covered with a PVC box flushed with Nitrogen gas to prevent airborne radon contamination. The whole experimental set-up was completed shielding the upper part of the dilution refrigerator with Pb bricks to reduce the experimental solid angle seen by the detectors.

ROSEBUD in the Hall B of the new LSC



The new experimental set-up

The ROSEBUD experimental set-up was completely assembled in the Hall B of the new LSC facilities. Like in the Old Lab 3, we had here a new Faraday Cage with a height a bit greater than the old one (3 × 3 × 4.8 m³); internally it is completely covered with Cu foils, isolated acoustically, grounded and EM tested. Here is also shown the new Pb shielding (partially built in height) used to hold the cryostat.
