Information for contributors
1)
Submission
of manuscripts:
Geographicalia
publishes scientific papers in its “Articles,” “State of art” and
“Reviews” sections. In the case of articles, authors should send the
manuscript and two copies for external appraisal. Whether or not the journal
accepts the articles for publication depends on the result of this appraisal.
2)
Preparation
of typescrits:
Manuscripts
should be written in Spanish, English or French, with endorsed
translations in cases in which the author’s native language is not used. Their
minimum and maximum length should be 10 and 25 pages respectively, including
text, figures, maps and tables, notes and bibliography. Text for the “State of
art” section should be no longer than fifteen pages, while the maximum length
for reviews should be three pages. In
all cases, texts preferably be prepared on a word processor, printed with double
spacing, 2.5 cm. margins and 12 points lettering. After accepted for publication,
the text should be sent on a disk or via electronic mail. Authors are requested
to ensure that the contents of the diskette correspond exactly to the contents
of the hard copy manuscript
3)
Presentation:
in the following way. On the first page:
-
The title in English and
Spanish
-
The name(s) of the author(s)
in capital letters, followed by their initials.
-
Affiliation and postal, fax
and electronic mail contact addresses.
-
A short (100 words) abstract
in Spanish, followed by key words.
-
A short (100 words) abstract
in English, followed by key words.
4) Endnotes and references:
Endnotes are acceptable as long as they are kept to a minimum. They
should be prepared on a separate sheet and listed consecutively at the end of
the paper. References in the text should consist of the surname of the author(s),
followed by the year of publication in parentheses (Martínez, 1989). In textual
quotations, the page number should also be added. All references cited in the
text should be given in the reference list and vice versa.
5) Reference list: This should appear in alphabetical order at the end of the article. The full references should be prepared as follows for books, chapters of books or articles from journals:
Méndez R. y Molinero, F. (1991): Espacios y sociedades. Barcelona, Ariel.
Warren, Ch.R (1991): Iceberg calving and the glaciomatic record. Progress in Physical Geography, 16, p, 253?282.
Puyol, R. (1992): La población. F.n Puyol R.,Estébanez,J.
y Méndez, R. (eds) Geografía Humana. (2a edición). Madrid, Cátedra, p
51?238.
6) Tables:
Tables
should be compiled on separate sheets and should be submitted suitable for
reproduction. Each table should be numbered consecutively in the order in which
it is referred to in the text. An appropriate caption is required for each table,
both in English and Spanish.
7)
Illustrations
(maps, charts, diagrams and photographs): All
fotographs, maps, charts, and diagrams should be referred to as “figures”,
submitted suitable for reproduction and numbered consecutively in the order in
which they are referred to in the text. Photographs may be submitted in black
and white or in colour, as well as in slide or magnetic format, although in all
cases, reproduction will be in black and white. Drawings should be lettered
throuhgout, the size of the lettering being appropriate to that of the drawings,
but taking into account the possible need for reduction in size. Authors must
note that maximum reproduction size in the journal is 16 x 23 cm. Appropiated
captions and keys must be provided
for all figures.
The Editors will ensure that these
indications are kept, and contributions not conforming to style will be returned
to their authors.
