As in the preceding editions, the competition was very tough among young and talented scientist and Marta Mas-Torrent was selected for her long term beautiful work on organic radicals cleverly transformed in switchable devices for molecular electronics. It is the first time that organic radical chemistry is highlighted by the OKIA Award. It is also the first time that a female researcher has won the competition, emphasizing the role than women scientists are playing today in molecular magnetism.
