 Beatriz PENAS IBÁÑEZ (MA S.U.N.Y.A.B., USA. M.A Universidad de Salamanca, PhD Universidad de Salamanca, Spain) is Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). She specialises in Semiotics, Pragmatics and American Literature. Her main publications include Análisis semiótico de los aspectos taurinos de la obra literaria de Ernest Hemingway (Prensas Universitarias de Zaragoza, 1990) and contributions to From Baudelaire to Lorca: Approaches to Literary Modernism (Kassel: Reichenberger, 1996), Gender, I-deology (Amsterdam: Rodopi, 1996), New Exoticisms (Amsterdam: Rodopi 2000), Memory, Desire, and Imagination (Heidelberg: Winter, 2003), A Companion to Hemingway's Death in the Afternoon (New York: Camden, 2004); she has edited The Intertextual Dimension of Discourse (Universidad de Zaragoza, 1996) and The Pragmatics of Understanding and Misunderstanding (Universidad de Zaragoza, 1998).
