course on "modelling and computer simulation methods for dendrimers" (patras, greece)

An international school on “Modelling and Computer Simulation Methods for Dendrimers” will be held in the University of Patras from 12 to 16 December 2011. The school is organized in the framework of the EU-funded MC project “Dendreamers” and its goal is to introduce computer simulation methods which can be applied to the study of dendrimers, hyperbranched polymers and other complex macromolecular systems at various levels of resolution. The audience will be PhD students from Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and Biology with little, if any, previous experience in computer simulations. On a first level, the objective of the international school is to familiarize these early stage researchers with already existing Molecular Mechanics and atomistic Molecular Dynamics software for single dendrimer calculations. On a second level, we would like to provide the students an opportunity to attend lectures from experts on more advanced methods for the study of the structure/properties relations of these complex systems together with a discussion on expectations and limitations of computer simulation experiments.

Dates:

12nd - 15th of December 2011 (open event: "Course on Computational Modellisation").

14th - 16th of December 2011 (restricted events, European project DENDREAMERS): Plenary Session + Tour-de-Table + Supervisory Board Meeting.

Limited seats, upon availability. Open to external researchers.

HOW TO ARRIVE IN PATRAS

How to reach Patras.

Department of Material Science (University of Patras).

Google maps.

Piece of advice from Anant Kumar:

In my opinion, the easiest way to reach Patras is by BUS.
Take "X93" bus from Athens International Airport.
It will drop you at Kifisos Intercity Bus Station (KTEL).
This is the central station for buses that run domestic routes all over the country.
The cost of the ticket is around 5 Euro. The route duration from the airport to KTEL station is around 1 hour.
Alternatively, KTEL station can be reached by taxi (approx. 30 min, 50-60 Euro).
From the Kifisos Intercity Bus Station take the coach/bus to Patras.
Cost of the ticket will be around 17-20 Euro.
From Patras bus station you can take taxi to you destination (Hotel/University).
It will cost around 10-15 Euro.
Attached, you may find the time table for X93 Bus and Athens-Patras-Athens coach.
I hope this information will be helpful.
